Yoga Clothes - On & Off the Mat

When I started Yoga about 18 months ago, I was looking for fun, functional and stylish Yoga clothes, something that I could practice yoga with, look and feel great in, on and off the mat.

It turned out that there are fashionable all-day activewear, and I ended up wearing them not just for exercising, but also picking up the kids, running errands, and even going out for a glass of wine with my friends, where people always commented that they love my pants.

Material is a very important factor in your decision to which clothes to buy for Yoga. For example cotton absorbs sweat, and does not dry quickly. If you intend to wear these clothes after your practice and you sweat during the practice, you will not be able to wear them for long afterwards.

But there are alternatives. Synthetic material like Supplex, is not only breathable, but will actually wick away the sweat from your body, leaving you dry very quickly after the session. An additional advantage of Supplex is that it will not change shape and the colors will not fade, again, unlike cotton. Possibly the best combo for Yoga and other activities is a combination of Supplex and Lycra. With this material you get the best of both worlds, fabric soft like cotton, yet fitting like it was made just for you.

There are plenty of Yoga brands that are made of both natural fabrics as well as synthetic, and choosing the right one for you will depend on how you like your clothes to feel and what you will be doing directly before and after your Yoga session.

I personally have opted for the Supplex with Lycra option, as I often have errands to run directly after Yoga practice, and want to be dry and looking good.
